Steam
baths for the face: healing recipes for different skin types
Once upon a time, our distant ancestors realized that the
cold helps to keep food fresher longer. Later, someone probably came up with
the idea that rubbing the face with a piece of ice and, in general, the effect
of cold on our body can have a similar effect. No wonder the mistress of King
Henry, Diane de Poitiers, attached such importance to the cold: she took a cold
bath at six in the morning, used cosmetic ice, and made sure that her bedroom
was always at a low temperature. All these manipulations really had a positive
effect, but the beauty from the 16th century hardly imagined what the mechanism
of their action really was.
The whole secret is in the effect of cold on the vessels:
the superficial ones temporarily narrow, the deeper ones expand. Blood flow
increases, and the capillaries are filled with it, the tone and metabolism
increase, swelling decreases, and as a result, you will see in the mirror much
more “lively” and healthy skin with a slight natural blush. Regular use of
facial ice trains and strengthens blood vessels, so she will look better for
much longer than some time immediately after the procedure. If you use not
ordinary water, but decoctions and juices, then the effect will immediately be
multiplied by two - however, only those who have no contraindications can take
advantage of these benefits.
Who should
not wipe their Face with ice?
The procedure is not recommended if you have signs of a
cold, sinus disease (eg, sinusitis, etc. ). Under the ban, any damage to the
skin - cuts, sores, sunburn, weathering, rash. The touch of ice is still
stressful for the skin, so do not overexert it. If you are allergic to cold,
for obvious reasons, the procedure is prohibited.
And finally, the most common reason why rubbing the face
with ice is not allowed is rosacea, a noticeable mesh of blood vessels located
too close to the surface of the skin. The point is not only that you can
accidentally “overstress” the vessels, but also that such shock therapy for
rosacea is likely to lead to the formation of new spider veins. Most often,
rosacea is observed on the wings of the nose and on the cheeks. If you have
such zones, but they are very small and barely noticeable, you can use ice,
avoiding them, but in any case, it is better to consult a specialist first.
In addition, consider the type of skin - ice can dry it out,
so owners of dry skin should not get carried away with the procedure and do it
every day. For those who have oily or combination skin, once a day is enough in
the warm season and every other day or two in winter.
A few more important rules! The duration of rubbing
the skin with an ice cube should be no more than 2-3 minutes (usually this time
is enough for the cube to melt). At the same time, ice should not be kept for
more than 5 seconds at one point, so as not to harm the vessels. After
completion, you can not dry your face with a towel and let it dry naturally.
The proportions of all recipes will directly depend on the
volume of your ice molds. In addition, it is not at all critical if you have
more of some ingredients and less of some. We give approximate volumes, but you
can vary the proportions at your discretion.
